Video Link Downloader

Paste a link from YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, X, Vimeo, or any direct video file URL, and save the video to your device. Free, no signup, no browser extension.

Legal use only: download content you own, have permission to download, or is public domain.

Supported platforms: YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, Twitter/X, Vimeo, and direct video URLs (.mp4, .webm, .mov, etc.).

How to download a video

  1. 1
    Copy the video URL

Use the Share or Copy link option on the platform, or copy the address straight from your browser address bar. A shortened link that redirects usually works too.

  2. 2
Paste it into the box above

The tool reads the page the link points at and resolves the underlying media file. Nothing is uploaded from your device.

  3. 3
    Set a filename (optional)

Leave it blank to keep the original title. Characters that are illegal in filenames are replaced automatically.

  4. 4
    Download

The file is streamed to your browser and saved to your normal downloads folder. Large videos take longer, because the whole file has to transfer before your browser marks it complete.

Nothing is uploaded from your device. The tool only reads the public page your link points at, then streams the resulting file back to your browser.

TikTokPublic videos. Whether the file carries a watermark depends on what TikTok serves.
X (Twitter)Videos and GIFs attached to public posts.

If the download does not work

  • Check the video is public. Private, unlisted, deleted, age-restricted and members-only content cannot be reached, because the tool has no account to sign in with.
  • Try the canonical link. Share-sheet links wrapped in tracking parameters sometimes resolve differently. Open the video in a browser and copy the address bar URL.
  • Wait and retry. Platforms rate-limit bursts of requests. A failure that repeats instantly will often succeed a few minutes later.
  • Region locks. Some videos are only served in certain countries and will fail regardless of the link you use.
  • Very long videos. Multi-hour files can exceed the request timeout. Shorter clips are far more reliable.

Copyright and fair use

This tool exists for the cases where saving a copy is legitimate: your own uploads, footage you have been given permission to reuse, public-domain and openly licensed material, and archiving something you produced on a platform you are leaving.

Downloading copyrighted video you have no rights to is not one of those cases. It also breaches the terms of service of most platforms, YouTube included. Whether any particular download is lawful depends on the content and on where you live. That judgement, and the responsibility for it, is yours.

Frequently asked questions

Which platforms does this video downloader support?

YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, X (Twitter) and Vimeo, plus any direct link to a video file such as .mp4, .webm, .mov or .m4v. Public content works; anything behind a login, a password or an age gate does not.

Do I need to install anything or create an account?

No. The tool runs in your browser. There is no signup, no extension and no software to install. You paste a link and get a file back.

What video quality will I get?

The tool picks the best single file that already contains both video and audio, which on most platforms is 720p. Resolutions above 720p are usually delivered by YouTube as separate video-only and audio-only streams that have to be merged afterwards, so they are not offered here as a one-click download.

Why did my download fail?

The three common causes are: the content is private, deleted or region-locked; the platform changed how it serves media and the extractor needs updating; or the video is very long and the request timed out. Retrying a few minutes later resolves a surprising number of failures.

Can I download a whole playlist or channel?

No. This tool handles one video per request by design. Bulk downloading puts heavy load on the source platform and is far more likely to be rate-limited or blocked outright.

Does it work on a phone?

Yes. The page works in mobile browsers. Where the file ends up depends on your browser and operating system — on iOS, Safari saves to the Files app rather than the photo library.

Do you store the videos I download?

No. The file is passed through to your browser and not retained on our servers. We do not keep a copy of the media or a record of which URLs you submitted.

Is it legal to download videos from these sites?

It depends on the content and on where you are. Downloading material you created, material you have permission to use, or material in the public domain is generally fine. Downloading copyrighted content you do not have rights to is not, and it also breaks the terms of service of most platforms, YouTube in particular. You are responsible for how you use this tool.

Why does a video play in a new tab instead of downloading?

Some platforms send the file with headers that tell the browser to display it rather than save it. When that happens, right-click the playing video and choose Save video as to write it to disk.
